KOŠICE RUNWAY RUN 2016: Runners directly on the airport runway for the first time in Slovakia!

Košice as European City of Sport comes with an additional novelty. We can run the Runway run for the first time ever directly on the landing and take-off runway of Košice Airport.
The metropolis of East is known for unusual events and on 23 April 2016 this unique running event - KOŠICE RUNWAY RUN confirms this saying. Easterners have already been enjoying several periodically run evening runs KOŠICE RUNWAY RUN, the run after sunset will now have completely different flavour. Runners will exchange historical city center for take-off and landing runway of Košice airport.
Michael Tmej, Director and chairman of the management board of Košice airport said: "This remarkable event is proof that inhabitants of Košice have word innovation written in their DNA. We look forward to welcoming our runners on the airport runway and we believe that together with Radio Košice and with the event KOŠICE RUNWAY RUN we are starting a nice tradition. "
Richard Raši, Mayor of Košice said: "The unique event KOŠICE RUNWAY RUN will be one of the TOP events of 2016, in which Košice prides itself in the title of European City of Sport. I am very proud of the fact that one and only night run event on the runway of international airport not only in Slovakia but throughout Central Europe will be in Košice and I am already looking forward to this event."
The choice of track length
The first year, and the first ever event of this nature in our region promises an experience that runners will gain from a 5- or 10-kilometer route. Besides their own motivation to deliver their best performance, the sport lovers will also enjoy the evening atmosphere of illuminated airport runway and accompanying show, which will be incorporated in the run.

KOŠICE RUNWAY RUN 2016 will show you the places where is normally not possible to get due to security precautions. You do not only have to look on the runway out of the window of the aircraft, but altogether with other runners also control it. Early registration ensures discounted entry fee, therefore register today. The actual registration is already taking place on-line on the web runwayrun.sk where you can find it until the start of the race - 23. 4. 2016.
KOŠICE RUNWAY RUN is a combination of night running and a unique jogging track. Come and enjoy one of the top events of 2016 - we will meet on 23. 4. 2016 on take-off and landing runway! The organizer of the event is Radio Košice together with Košice Airport. Radio Košice has successfully prepared popular running event Košice Night Run for the past few years, in the recent year over 2000 athletes ran through the historic center of Košice.
